Estimated Read Time:

This project began when a homeowner in the Oregon District of Ohio reached out after purchasing a 140-year-old home that needed a complete exterior renovation. The property still had its original materials, and years of wear had taken a toll. The homeowner wanted everything updated — including the roof, soffits, fascia metal, Hardie board siding, and gutters — while keeping the historic charm intact.

After providing a detailed and transparent estimate, we worked closely with the homeowner through several plan revisions to finalize the perfect scope of work. Once approved, our team got to work restoring the structure from the top down. During the process, we uncovered multiple layers of old roofing — three layers plus the original wood shakes — requiring a full re-sheathing of the roof deck. When removing the old metal roof, the rear soffit system collapsed due to decayed framing, so we rebuilt the 130-year-old structure by hand before moving forward.

We installed GAF HDZ architectural shingles for the new roof, offering long-term durability and a dimensional finish that complemented the updated Hardie siding. Within just six days, we completed seven trades, transforming the property’s exterior completely. The homeowner was thrilled with the result — a historic home that now combines its timeless look with modern protection and performance.
